Jess and Keith leading a worship concert with acoustic guitar and vocals

Nursing Home Ministry · Bethel Park, PA

Bringing the church to them.

Jess & Keith and our team lead monthly worship concerts in nursing homes, retirement communities, and rehabilitation centers, with a blend of hymns, Scripture songs, teaching, testimonies, and prayer.

An introduction

Worship concerts that feel like a visit from home.

This ministry specializes in providing worship concerts in nursing homes, retirement facilities, and physical rehabilitation centers, a blessing to the residents, their families, and the staff who care for them. Each month we bring a blend of hymns, songs from Scripture, teaching, Scripture reading, testimonies, and prayer.

We call them “worship concerts” so residents understand it is not a church service. Every concert carries a single theme woven throughout, so that everything spoken and sung fits together like a puzzle, communicating one encouraging message from Scripture.

Jess & Keith: Worship Duo partner with Redeeming Grace Church in Bethel Park, PA to equip and encourage aspiring ministers as they develop their gifts. Our team turns songbook pages for residents who can’t on their own, prays with people, and often returns to share the Scriptures one-on-one.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Each month, together

What we bring to every home

A clear presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is always the priority. Messages cover the fundamentals of the faith, mindful that people from many denominations, and the unchurched, are listening.

Hymns & Scripture songs

Familiar hymns and songs drawn straight from Scripture, led on acoustic guitar and vocals.

Teaching & Scripture reading

Short, encouraging messages (usually five to ten minutes) anchored in the Word.

Testimonies

Real stories of God’s faithfulness, shared plainly and from the heart.

Prayer & fellowship

We stay to pray with residents and staff, building real relationships over time.

A whole team

Singers, players, preachers, and helpers who set up, tear down, and befriend everyone in the room.

One woven theme

Everything spoken and sung fits together to carry a single message of hope from Scripture.

Who leads

Jessica O’Brien directs this ministry. She and Keith began serving in homes together after both faced life-threatening illnesses, realizing they could have wound up in nursing homes themselves, no longer able to go to church. So they set out to “bring the church to them.” Jess & Keith lead the music; when guest musicians join, they rehearse independently and together.

What to expect

Team members arrive about 45 minutes early to help set up and greet residents. The event begins when the sound system comes on, and the whole team assists with the sound check. Afterward we help tear down and stay to pray and fellowship. Plan on roughly 2–3 hours from arrival to departure.

Speaking roles: submit your transcript to Jess and a Message Mentor (Will Sorge, Mike Scheib, or Jeremy Caskey) for review a week in advance. Most messages run about 5–10 minutes.

A team member singing joyfully at a concert

Every time I attend the nursing homes, I leave re-energized, filled with passion and love for the gospel message. This ministry has allowed me to gain meaningful relationships with the team and, most importantly, the residents of the home.

Regarding songbooks

Helping every voice find the page

Each month we try to provide songbooks so residents can sing along and read the Scripture. Team members help residents find the right page during the singing and reading, and we watch Jessica for quiet, non-verbal cues about who might need a hand, then head that way quickly.

When songs are copyrighted, we collect the songbooks afterward. Otherwise, residents are free to keep them, and some have built up quite a collection!
